Great article. I didn't know Lee either, but I'm really really sorry. And I agree with you - I actually deactivated my Instagram account for around 8 months now (with a small break in the middle) and felt more alive than ever before. It's not just the constant comparisons; it's feeling like you need to show parts of your life. As if those didn't really happen if you don't show them. As ridiculous as this may seem, I used to see a beautiful view, or be in a cool place and my first thought would be "I need to take a picture of this right now". I rarely enjoyed things in the moment. Without it, you feel free. A weight is lifted off of you. There's no one you need to show that photo to and your friends won't abandon you or forget about you. My social life actually got better after leaving instagram :)

I think some people can actually use social media mindfully and it can be good for many things, but I came to the conclusion that I become addicted very fast and it's just not for me, at least not right now. Thinking of deleting it for good.
